This presentation will address how oppression in its various forms (zero-tolerance policies, forced assimilation, disenfranchisement, etc.) separates one from one's right to self-actualization. We will also explore how various policies and systems within traditional education in our country continue to impede the self-actualization of students. Participants will leave the presentation with tangible tools in order to begin to undo their personal relationship with oppression in order to be the best advocates, teachers, and leaders for their students.
